But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. Genesis 6:18
I made a decision that I shall finish reading and meditating all the chapters of Psalms this year. However, one night when I reached chapter 40 I whispered God and said, "Lord, please speak unto me" while I proceeded to the next chapter. Then God led me back to Noah's life when He flooded the whole earth due to man made His heart filled with pain.
I know very well what the story is all about and can even tell every sequence during the occurrence of Noah's time of calamity. However, the Words were not that penetrating to the very inner of my heart. While contemplating this time, God whispered clearly with His comforting reply that:
He will establish His promises. God's Word in Genesis 6:18 vigorously declaring that, "He will establish His covenant to us and we will enter the ark -- me and my sons and wife with me.” God guaranteed me that from now He is already working behind this scene of our lives and deliver his promise which is more than our expectation and imagination at His perfect time. Because God truly desired that whatever goes out from His mouth shall come to pass as Isaiah 55:11 says "so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." What a soothing sensation of having a good God, none other than the Lord Jesus Christ if we only trust, lean and commit all our ways to Him.
He planned to preserve our lives with His protection and provision even before, during and after our calamity. Beforehand of God's protection, He first molds our characters like the way God protected and provided Noah in his obedience in building the ark as instructed. God made me certain with His Word with Noah that even ahead, during and after the storm our needs have been supplied, Genesis 6:21 "You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them." After the flood it is supported God clearly says in Genesis 9:2-3 , 2 All the animals of the earth, all the birds of the sky, all the small animals that scurry along the ground, and all the fish in the sea will look on you with fear and terror. I have placed them in your power. 3 I have given them to you for food, just as I have given you grain and vegetables.” Truly God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19). Now, I'm confident that in our willingness to obey God, blessings and prosperity follows.
He calms the violent squall of life. God surely allows calamity for a reason. Somehow, the flood in Noah's time as God wanted to put an end to all people as they were corrupt and full of violence. That causes God opened the floodgates of heaven because of them "on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened."(Genesis 7:11). As God remembered Noah and all with him, He sent a wind over the earth and water receded. Genesis 8:2 "Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens had been closed, and the rain had stopped falling from the sky." He is indeed a gracious God who halted floods. God is able. He is just dealing with us to persevere, build our character and strengthen our faith. The God who opened floodgates of heaven that grounds our struggles in life, He is the only One who has the power to put our storm to an end that all His covenant will be accomplished. It made me understand that God closes door of opportunity but surely opens new opportunity beyond our expectation and comprehension. Hallelujah!
Thus, let us involve God in every situation of our life because He is indeed a true gentleman who intervened only if permitted. As we authorized Him, be attentive and carefully listen to the instructions to obey, warnings to avoid and promises to claim for us not to fail to experience God's covenant of blessings such as protection, provision and tranquility of the violent squall of life.
God bless you beyond measure.
